When everyday technology starts to feel difficult

Technology can make everyday life easier until familiar things begin to feel uncertain.

A message arrives and you are unsure whether to trust it.

An app changes and something you used every day suddenly feels unfamiliar.

A video call, online form or settings menu becomes something you would rather avoid.

Small uncertainties can gradually lead to greater reliance on family, friends or carers.

NextStep helps make those everyday tasks feel manageable again, using the technology you already have wherever possible.

The goal is greater confidence, greater independence and fewer moments where you need somebody else to step in.

How NextStep Works

Every person starts somewhere different, so every programme begins with understanding what matters to you.

1. Start with a conversation

We talk about your day-to-day life, what technology you already use, what feels difficult and what you would like to be able to do more confidently.

Where appropriate, a family member or carer can be part of that conversation.

2. Build your learning plan

I create a simple, personalised plan focused on the devices, tasks and situations that matter to you.

3. Learn in your own home

Sessions are delivered one-to-one in familiar surroundings, using your own technology and working at your pace.

4. Practise between sessions

You will be left with a small number of simple things to practise, helping new skills become familiar and repeatable.

5. Review your progress

I follow up seven days later to understand what is working, what still feels difficult and whether any further support would genuinely be useful.

Further sessions are recommended only where they can add clear value.

Building Lasting Confidence.

NextStep sessions usually last around 90 minutes and are delivered personally in your home.

We focus on a small number of practical goals at a time so that each session remains manageable and useful.

Skills are practised.

Understanding develops.

Confidence grows.

Tasks that previously caused hesitation begin to feel more familiar.

The purpose is to help you get more from the technology already around you, rather than continually introducing more devices.

Where new technology could genuinely make everyday life easier or more accessible, I will explain the options clearly.

There is no requirement to purchase anything through NextStep.

Success means being able to do more for yourself, with greater confidence and less unnecessary reliance on others.

Who You’re Inviting Into Your Home

Hello, I'm Jack - Founder of NextStep

Every NextStep session is delivered personally by me.

You will know who is coming into your home and who you will be working with from the beginning.

I spent around 15 years at Apple supporting customers with technology and accessibility needs.

I have worked professionally in Learning & Development since 2012, am qualified in adult learning and hold a current DBS check.

During my time supporting customers, I saw how quickly technology can move from something useful to something people begin avoiding when confidence disappears.

I also saw what happens when somebody is given enough time, patience and clear guidance to understand things properly.

That experience led me to create NextStep.

My role is to understand what matters in your everyday life, simplify what has become difficult and help you build practical skills at your own pace.

NextStep does not receive commission for recommending technology. New devices or services are suggested only where there is a clearly identified need.
